"To live in this world, you must be able to do three things: to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go."
- from "In Blackwater Woods," by Mary Oliver
As part of our hospice program, bereavement care is offered to families and loved ones for the year following a death. Services are optional and tailored to individual needs. Someone from our bereavement team will contact you by phone 4-6 weeks after the death. If you or someone in your family would like support sooner than this please call us or let one of your hospice team members know. Our program is free of charge and available to community members. We offer the following services:
- Monthy mailings on grief and loss
- Phone contacts
- Referrals to community resources
- Visits

- Workshops
Grieving a Loss
Grief may be experienced in response to physical losses, such as death, or in response to symbolic or social losses such as divorce or loss of a job. The grief experience can be affected by one’s history and support system. Taking care of yourself and accessing the support of friends and family can help you cope with your grief experience. Feel free to contact a bereavement counselor at Partners Hospice by calling (406) 728-8848 or one of the following numbers:
Gretchen Strohmaier, MDiv: (406) 327-3624
